This is the time of year when families and friends come together to celebrate life and love. We sit together, eat together, and create new memories. One of my favorite holiday memories is when I was 7 and had my first Christmas with my cat Shannon. Back then we decorated the trees with icicles and beautiful white lights. While I was sleeping Shannon would go down to the tree and eat the icicles. Needless to say we later discover her midnight snack. I learned then that you must take extra precautions to protect you pets during this season. Many of the decorations and plants can be toxic if ingested, and we see many pets if our office for things that could have been avoided. My cat is 19 years old now, and though we are both much older, the memories I have of her are as precious today as they were back then. I wish everyone a happy and safe Holiday!
